Alphathon 2025
#Alphathon2025 was a quantitative finance competition, organized jointly by the Society of Quantitative Analysts SQA and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology CEWIT at Stony Brook University!
Relevant questions on alpha research, dealing with asynchronous data, using ML and LLMs in fundamental research, trading costs and portfolio construction were posed by Point72 / Cubist, AllianceBernstein, Principal and Northfield.
The competition aimed to develop and evaluate cutting-edge forecasting solutions for financial industry professionals, utilizing the latest mathematical, statistical and machine learning techniques and alternative datasets.
120 Participants, in 62 Teams, were accepted among many more to compete in Alphathon 2025. But at the end, there could only be 1 winning team per Question!

Alphathon 2025 was open to graduate students, academics and industry professionals alike, able to attend the final in person in Manhattan if successful. Alphathon 2025 was designed for individuals eager to enhance their skills in quantitative finance and to engage with the latest advancements in technology and data analysis in the financial sector. Winners received substantial visibility in the industry, including the Question sponsors, and SQA member investment firms. Participants competed in teams of 1 - 3 individuals. Recruitment opportunities were provided on an optional, opt-in basis.
